April showers bring may flowers

And strawberries, and peas and potatoes... I have planted a full row of snow peas demi-nain Normand and two rows of little potatoes I had saved from last year and everything is growing splendidly! I am renewing my strawberry plants so I won't be picking...

Berry month of May

What can I say. Never in a million years did I imagine when planting my first six strawberry plants that I would have this many some day! Three years into my gardening experiment, my strawberry patch now measures 2.5m x 2.5m and has about two dozen Gariguette...

Berry good!

Now is when my potager becomes truly fun! Since the beginning of the week I have gathered 925g of strawberries, a nice bowl every day. I pick them when they are a rosy red and leave them in the kitchen all night and the next day they are usually dark...

Strawberry fields

The merry month of May is here and the weather is quite warm and dry compared to the last two years. My strawberries are producing earlier and abundantly in spite of the cold spell the last two weeks as the sun is quite warm and with May the temperatures...

Spring cleaning my strawberry patch

Today was a nice dry balmy day, perfect for cleaning up my strawberry patch and get it ready for the beaux jours. Normally I should do this on sunday according to the lunar calendar, oups! I have found a new mulch, hemp straw or paillis de chanvre and...

Fresh strawberries

Mi-mai et au lieu des poignées de fraises ce sont des bols de fraises que je ramasse tous les deux jours ! Délicieux trempé dans de sucre vanillé très fin, en salade de fruits, dans un yaourt velouté... et pour changer de la sempiternelle tomate-mozzarelle...

Strawberry fields forever

C'est le printemps et les fraisiers sont en fleurs ! J'ai agrandi la planche de six plantes (des stolons plantés à l'automne) et les plantes installées au printemps dernier ont pris un beau volume ! J'ai découvert un paillage intéressant à base de paille...
